Short Fiction | Animation | Germany / Thailand | 2024

Project Status: Development

While being locked in Germany due to Covid-19 away from her mom, a-30-year-old half Thai, and half German girl- is revisiting the newly found diaries of her German grandmother. The German Grandma -who was formerly a typewriter- wrote those diaries to her daughter who moved in the nineties with her Thai husband to Thailand. When the only possible communication overseas can be through videotapes and letters.

She is rediscovering her disrupted relationship with her distanced mom. They are looking at their journeys, and how far they went. They are looking at the stories of three women whose roads never crossed though they were connected.

She is recreating what she missed using her only way of communication through illustrations and animation and she is looking and asking “Am I repeating the history again unintentionally?”

It’s a story about love, distance, and connection from the eyes and ears of three women from different generations.
